1. What Support Covers

Support covers assistance with age verification gate setup, modal customization, minimum age threshold configuration, exit URL redirection routing, theme app embed activation, and general technical inquiries regarding theme compatibility. These are the implemented and supported workflows of Benetti Age Gate.

Please note that legal drinking, vaping, and adult product age restrictions vary significantly by state, country, and jurisdiction. Merchants are responsible for ensuring that their configured age thresholds (e.g. 18 vs 21) comply with local regulatory statutes applicable to their customer base.

2. Storefront Setup and Activation Guide

1. Navigate to Online Store → Themes → Customize in your Shopify Admin.
2. Click the App embeds tab in the left-hand navigation sidebar (represented by the puzzle icon).
3. Locate Age Verification Gate in the list of installed app embeds.
4. Toggle the switch to On.
5. Configure your modal settings in the inspector panel: headline, body copy, minimum age, button text, and failure redirect URL.
6. Click Save in the upper right corner to publish the gate to your live storefront.

3. Troubleshooting and Best Practices

Testing the Gate: Because the gate remembers when a visitor has successfully confirmed their age, subsequent visits will not re-display the popup. To test the gate repeatedly during theme development, use a private or incognito browser window, or clear the age_verified cookie for your store.

Exit URL Security: To prevent open redirect and protocol smuggling vulnerabilities (CWE-601), the app validates all exit URLs. Always provide a full, secure URL (e.g. https://google.com) or an internal page path.

5. Uninstall

The gate is a theme app embed and the app requests no theme access, so it adds no code to your theme files and there is nothing to clean up by hand.
